Time to EAT CAKE

It is a co workers birthday today and I thought I would bring some brownies to share in the lunch room.  Found this cute idea at Michaels and wanted to try the little "chalkboard' banner for the decorating.
I quickly did this up, and I can't wait to use those little banner pieces again and again as you can erase the chalk and start over!

Brownies with peanut butter icing....YuMmY!  Now that is the way to start the week end!

Thrift store find,,,Before n After

I came across this cute little stool at the Salvation Army Thrift store a couple weeks ago.  It was the first thing I saw when I walked into the store and I made a bee line for it, I knew all it would need was some white paint love!

It is sold wood and I liked the little detail of the circle on the top. I purchased some van Gogh chalk paint ( Chalk White)  and thought I would give this chalk paint craze a try!  I think it turned out okay for my first attempt!

I like how the distressing turned out on the seat, but I am not too sure about the legs?
Check out my niece, Heidi's, blog and her little business venture called Rustic Barnyard.
Here is a link to her Facebook Page

This little stool will be great for my little niece and nephews when they need to
stand at the counter to help with "cookin up" something in the kitchen, or as a nice little spot
to rest a coffee cup or book.  I think it is a keeper!

Get your fruits and veggies!

Thought I would share a quick post about an easy way to get fruits and veggies in your diet.  I purchased a Vitamix a couple of years back.  It was a bigger purchase, I got mine at Costco when they had a promotion.  Smoothies are a great way to get fruits and veggies and they are quick and easy.

I have found that there are times when my produce will go bad cause I haven't been diligent at getting those smoothies made.  A friend posted on FB about doing up freezer packets for your smoothies, so you just have to grab a bag from the freezer, add your liquid and you are good to go!

Yesterday I made a trip to Costco and purchased a big bag of spinach, mango, blueberries, some fresh strawberries, bananas and came home to prep the grab n go freezer bags.

I should have taken a picture before they froze, the color looks so pretty.  I even added a tablespoon of yogurt right in, even thought I would try freezing a spoon of honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon right into the frozen mix.  Had one this morning for breakfast and it was easy peasy!

Have a great week end and bottoms up on those fruits and veggies!

Learnin in the kitchen....

My mom in law called the other day and asked if I wanted to make perogies on the week end.  They planned on coming for a quick visit.   I thought it would be fun to cook in the kitchen and learn some of her secrets. We always tease her that she never seems to make the recipe the same twice, but its always delicious!

Benny is off on a sledding trip and I knew he would be a little disappointed that he would miss the cooking day with Grandma and Grandpa.....but the freezer is full of perogies!!

Florian, was busy making his delicious beef stroganoff and there was lots going on in the kitchen today!  Followed by a yummy lunch!!  Thanks for the cooking lesson today.  :)

Lots of room at our big kitchen island.

Yum!!

My mom makes the best cabbage rolls!  Even though I would be the only one eating them in my family, I guess I should really be getting a lesson from her on that one!

Enjoy the week end everyone!

Before n After Bathroom Reveal

Finally got some "after " pictures done of the bathroom.  I have taken down the Christmas decorations and am kinda at a loss for what to fill the empty shelves and such with,,,,,so I headed to the bathroom to see what I could come up with in there for a "before n after " post on this room.

This could actually be a "before n middle" post,,,,we do have plans to put in an old claw foot tub that we have in storage.  But, that could be a little while, so here goes with the "MIDDLE" post.

The color of the bathroom before was almost like a sherbert peach
Lots of dark tile, but a great vanity and counter top.
Nothing a little bead board and moulding couldn't fix... right?

Since the tile is staying,  I had to pick a different paint color from
the shades in the tile.  Not my favorite pallet but for now it will work.

We wouldn't be removing all that tile, so I knew that a white shower
curtain would have to hide the tub for a bit.  We have a claw foot tub
that will go into this space, then all the tile will  be removed.
For now, it will have to stay...

AFTER:

There really isn't room for this little chair to stay in the bathroom.
I think it gets the message across though... R e L a X
Thanks for visiting.

One more time, if you are still with me !
