I have a question ????

Hey fellow blogger friends.  I was wondering how many of you have your "who can comment" on your blog set?  I am getting ALOT of anonymous posts in my in box and of course don't want them.  Should I have my comments set up differently?

Thank you for your help as I am terrible at the 'how to make this blog work" stuff at times!

Happy APRIL everyone!
and who wants to get out in the garden?

I SURE DO!

Spring just has to be around the corner soon...

Hace a wonderful week !

Hello, I am set to not receive anonymous comments on my blog, I also have word verification - which you don't - and I also moderate all comments. The reason for this is to try and stop spam mainly, and also to ensure that no one who has left a comment is then attacked by another commenter, as if anything nasty was left I can just delete it. I don't have any problem with disagreeing or different opinions, just nastiness! Everyone is different though and I don't have any problems with any of the issues that I mentioned and I think that is partly because of the way I approach comments. Good luck with working out what you want to do going forward. xx

I can no longer allow anonymous comments...too much spam...it's bad enough as it is. When I do get spam, I make sure to label it as such and keep it in my spam folder. I still don't understand why it gets through. It is so perfectly obvious. So, don't feel guilty if you change your settings. It's easy enough to get an identity even if one does not have a blog.

I stopped allowing anonymous comments after a rush of spam a few months ago. I hate word verification on other blogs so I don't have it on mine. A few spammy things get through, but not more than a couple a week, which I can handle.
I found that adding word verification for a couple of weeks, then taking it off, helped the problem.
Gardening! Yes! We were out moving shrubs on Saturday and I'm hoping to get out there today in the beautiful sunshine.

I have mine set to "registered users". I don't allow anonymous comments.

I think you got your answer in the comments above Dawna. I still get the odd advertising spam comments and some of them come through link parties of all places. And Yes, I am so anxious to get out and garden even though it's almost 2 months before we can and we have tons of snow to melt yet. I'm gardening in my mind and making plans, jotting notes down, looking at magazines etc. We have some major projects that should be happening this summer too that will keep me busy. Take care.

My comments are also set to "registered users" as I was getting too much spam when I allowed anonymous comments. I do not have word verification. I don't think one spam comment has gotten through since I set up these settings.

I think I can smell the heavenly scent of those lilacs...I love them!

I had to change my comment settings last year. I was getting a ridiculous amount of anonymous comments & spam. I think I went with a setting that had something to do with having to have an account in order to comment?? Now I only get an anonymous comment every once in a while which I quickly delete.

Perhaps you try the various options one week at a time to see if it works better for you.

I have all comments sent to my email so spammy ones are deleted immediately.

But I do not use comment verification as it is hated by 90% of users. :)
