Kitchen update and color dilema!!

We have made some progress on the kitchen this week end..or that is Darrell has.  I am still in a bit of a supervisor mode since recovering from surgery.   I am feeling better each day though!   Hardwood floors are going in and that sure helps to clean things up!!

We have been able to use the kitchen throughout this whole process.  You can see what is left of it though after this week end!!  Darrell just keeps moving things around so that we have had access to the fridge and stove and this is what is left of my cupboard with the sink in it!

Now for the color situation! Since I did not keep the color of the paint we used a good number of years back, we were not sure of the exact paint match we would get.  The yellow is a bit to "lemony" for our liking, and now we are maybe thinking of going with the blue grey tones???

I have a whole gallon of paint from when we redid the living room.  The color is called "Dawn Mist"..here is a little  bit of it on the wall.    The new cupboards have a brush stroke finish, and I think the mist color picks up that .  Hard to see in this picture I know.  I think I also like the grey tones with the hardwood better.  So this is where you fellow bloggers come in!   Any suggestions!  If you have a kitchen in the grey/blue tones with white cupboards, let me know!!   Thanks for all your help!!

Glad to hear you are doing well! I'm much more of a 'color' person than anything in the grey/blue family. I have white chair rail and beadboard beneath it, a chambray blue above that, and a lighter, paler blue on the ceiling. But then I have a bright red antiqued kitchen table and chairs, mustard yellow cabinet for my cookbooks, etc., and a bright blue bench in the corner, so pretty much anything goes! That said, I have to say that I like the grey swatch with the color of your floors better than the yellow, and with the grey you can have lots of fun adding colorful accents.

Well, since you asked....We've painted our entire upstairs (except the main bathroom) in blue grey tones. I love it with the hardwood - the cool/warm contrast is lovely but not clashing. Our trim is all white and we'll be putting in white cabinets in the kitchen, too. It's airy and bright and I'm so happy with it!

Lorrie,,,that is too funny! We really do have so much the same taste!! Our cabinets are Kitchen Craft and the finish on them is Milestone, so they are white with a brush stroke in them. The Dawn Mist shade is really pulling out the brush stroke, so we are going for it!! I do like the contrast against the hardwood much better too. Thanks for your advice!! Can't wait to see your kitchen reveal :)

You know I love yellow but I also love blue-grey. I'm actually contemplating changing our living room to a blue-grey, too.

I think it will look great! What colour will your cupboards be??
