Mosaic Monday

We made a trip to Fernie the last week end of September.  First time being in Fernie during the autumn season.  It sure is pretty and I love the sweater weather that mean fall temperatures.

Of course, we always stay at Birch Meadow Lodge and here is yet another grouping of pictures from our favorite BnB!

These were taken using my Iphone, but all in all, not too bad.
I used an app on my phone to create the collage as well.

I liked the stacked wood pile, signs of keepin the home fires burning for the season ahead.

Have a great week everyone!

New spring mantel for the rangehood

Reading posts throughout blogland, we are all anticipating SPRING!  Although we have not had a very harsh winter here in Southern Alberta, I am looking forward to warmer temperatures and the great outdoors turning green again.

When I came across this great little spring saying I quickly switched out my frame that I use on the shelf of my rangehood.  It is just a wee shelf, so at times it is hard to find things that will not fall off!

Too cute!
I can't remember where I found the link for the
saying, but will keep looking and try to repost it.
Its free, just print off your computer and you
have some new ART !

This cute little bluebird was a gift from my son and daughter in law.
It fits right in with this wee spring vignette.

Here is another shot of our kitchen, with a little before n after.....

Yep...its the same space!!  Full post to follow on this one!
Here is the dining room recap for a start....

Thankful for a sunny day!
Cute little bluebirds!
and a God who blesses us with seasons!

Before n After Bathroom Reveal

Finally got some "after " pictures done of the bathroom.  I have taken down the Christmas decorations and am kinda at a loss for what to fill the empty shelves and such with,,,,,so I headed to the bathroom to see what I could come up with in there for a "before n after " post on this room.

This could actually be a "before n middle" post,,,,we do have plans to put in an old claw foot tub that we have in storage.  But, that could be a little while, so here goes with the "MIDDLE" post.

The color of the bathroom before was almost like a sherbert peach
Lots of dark tile, but a great vanity and counter top.
Nothing a little bead board and moulding couldn't fix... right?

Since the tile is staying,  I had to pick a different paint color from
the shades in the tile.  Not my favorite pallet but for now it will work.

We wouldn't be removing all that tile, so I knew that a white shower
curtain would have to hide the tub for a bit.  We have a claw foot tub
that will go into this space, then all the tile will  be removed.
For now, it will have to stay...

AFTER:

There really isn't room for this little chair to stay in the bathroom.
I think it gets the message across though... R e L a X
Thanks for visiting.

One more time, if you are still with me !

MORE Before n After:
Be sure to stop by the Living room here
the Back Entry here
Family Room here

Kitchen is coming up, once I figure out whats going where, now that Christmas decorations are put away.  Also have a coffee station project on the go, so stay tuned!  Have a great week end!

Primitive Farmhouse find from the Vintage Market

A number of weeks back, Darrell and I were able to go to a Vintage White Sale in Somers Montana.  We came across a few things that we brought home!  One of my favorites is  the subject of my "photo shoot" today!  Its a good thing I live in the country and the neighbors can't see what I drag around the yard to get a picture of!  I think the light was perfect in amongst the fallen leaves and the little box I found tucked under some of the Saskatoon bushes.  Perfect for what I needed,,,,

I love this old bowl set and scooped it up right away when I saw it in one of the booths at the sale.   The lady I bought it from said it is an old butter bowl.  Doing a bit of research I have found it referred to as a  dough bowl or butter bowl.   I just love its rustic and worn look!

The butter was churned and then put into the larger bowl and the paddle was used to work the rest of the buttermilk out......I am not sure what the smaller bowl was used for?  I sure am glad they came as a set though cause I think they are perfect together.  Does anyone else have any information on these primitive bowls, when they could date back to, if you have any in your collection?

Great autumn colors..
Of course, I always wonder who was the person who used this item?
How many people were in the family that enjoyed the home made butter?
It was probably a chore done very often and took time and effort...

Can't decide what to fill my lovely bowl with....pumpkins

Apples...

Or a mix of harvest colors..

I am posting this to Farmgirl Friday and will use it for Mosaic Monday next week as well.

Thanks Barn Charm...gonna miss ya!

Harvest time on the prairies

Barn Charm over at Bluff Area is closing..
So sad, this has been one of my favorite picture parties!
I drive by this little barn everyday, so thought I would use it for todays post.
I didn't want to trespass on the property, so couldn't really get the angles
that I wanted.  The tree in front  of the barn is dead, but now it fits into with the other
trees that are dropping its leaves.

A collage of some of my previous Barn Charm posts.
Its been fun, and I hope someone will maybe continue the party!

Have a great week everyone!

I did it! New header...

So, it has been over a year and a half since I changed my header!  Thought I would use this new mosaic for a Mosaic Monday post as well as my Barn Charm post this week.   I really didn't think I would remember where to even go to change the header,,,,but it turned out to be not so bad.

Barns. sunflowers and autumn colors, a few of my favorite things!

Have a great week everyone

Barns = photo happiness!

Wow!  It is already July 23rd!  The summer is going way to fast for me.  I find myself reflecting alot on where we were last year at this time.  We had made the move from Hanna, our life of 25 years, and things were exciting and scary all at the same time as we started getting settled in our new place.

I was filled with worry and fear as we waited for the property in Hanna to sell, there were ups and downs with the offer that finally was accepted, Darrell was still going back to work at the mine, there seemed like a mountain of work here, a kitchen to remodel when I had just left a beautiful kitchen behind, new jobs and co workers to get to know, .....

BUT!  I am so glad that I held on for the ride,,,,,not to well at times, but I held on anyways !  God has been faithful in so many things.  TRUST was the word that I would often just keep repeating to myself as I struggled through some of last summer.

I know that this is the place we are suppose to be for the next season of our lives though....we have been blessed with new and old friends here, jobs,  a wonderful church, family dinners and get togethers, since we are on the trans Canada hiway now we have been blessed with more family stopping in as they scoot across the prairies, and a new kitchen here as well!!  (pics of our reno to follow soon!)

Anyways... the reason for my post is Barn Charm and Mosaic Monday...so be sure to stop by these blogs to see some great photos!  After this I am off to see my new great nephew!!  He made his appearance and I need to get in a baby cuddle!!

We attended a wedding and on the way stopped to get a photo of quite a few barns...

Some editing fun in Picmonkey...so glad that you can edit your collage without having to go back n forth on your screens!  Thank you Picmonkey people!!

Have a great day everyone! and thanks for stopping by the country!

Prairie Barns and Mosaic Monday

With moving to a new area of the province, I am looking forward to going on a new "Barn Charm" tour!  This little red barn is just a few miles from us at Echo Dale Park.  There is an interpretive pathway with buildings and some of the history of the area.  Nestled in the river valley, it is a great place to wander around on a nice afternoon.

The greenhouses are starting to get busy with people anxious to get plants for the summer.
I am thinking I will pick up some pansies today and get the deck looking a little more spring like!

Mosaic Monday

Its Monday...time for a mosaic of some pictures that I took out of the window while travelling to BC this Christmas.   I didn't notice until I had the pictures on the computer, how there is just a bit of sunshine coming along the tree line in the first picture.  It was kinda bleak and overcast, but was nice to see the sun trying to peak through.

Wishing you Sunshine in your week ahead!

Mosaic Monday

Its been awhile since doing a Mosaic Monday post, so I thought I would share my quick mosaic of my "New Header"....thank you so much to Robin over at, Happy at Home, for sharing such a quick easy tip with me.  Hope you will stop by Robin's place to check out whats going on in her corner of blogland.    Just create your header using Picnik.....this one worked out fine, so hopefully when I go to change it up again I won't have any problems!!

Merry Christmas from That Country Place

Have a great week everyone!

Mosaic Monday Fall colors

I haven't posted a Mosaic Monday post for awhile, so I put together a collage of a few of my autumn pictures and this is what I came up with.

I kinda like it as black and white too, with a little shot of orange...

I can't believe it is the end of October already.
Wishing you all a great week ahead !

"If you're not from the prairie..."

Today was a cloudy, windy day on the prairies.  Our church was having a camping week end at Plover Lake Bible Camp.  The camp is located right in the middle of the prairies!  I don't know if there is a tree around!!  Lots of kids have had great memories of time spent at this camp though.

We were doing clean up after a great lunch and I happened to look out one of the windows of the kitchen.  I saw the clothesline, and I got a photo idea!!  I grabbed a handful of wet tea towels and headed out the door in the wind with my camera in hand.  It took me a few minutes to even get the towels on the line as the wind was whipping them every which way.  I stepped back to see how things looked and decided I better set my camera on sports mode!!

My Mosaic Monday post is an edited collage of clothesline pictures.  While I was editing them I thought they looked a bit like some photos from my favorite "prairie" books writtten by David Bouchard and illustrated by Henry Ripplinger.

"If You're Not from the Prairie..."

"Prairie Born"

One of the rooms in our BnB has a trio of some "prairie shots" I have taken.  I placed them over the headboard and then have "Prairie Born" below them in wall talk.    You can visit our website to see our bedrooms at the BnB.  I also ordered some pictures from Dave Bouchard's book and have them in a grouping on one of the walls as well.

While operating the gift store, I had guests that were born on the prairies sign a favorite page from the "Prairie Born" book.  It provided some interesting reading....   I wish I could say that was my great idea to do that, but a fellow gift store owner came up with the idea first and I liked it so much that I did it at our store  :)

So I will end today's post with a quote from "If You're Not from the Prairies" as well as
my windy day collage.

"If you're not from the prairie,
You don't know the wind,
You can't know the wind.

Our cold  winds of winter cut right to the core,
Hot summer wind devils can blow down the door.
As children we know when we play any game,
The wind will be there, yet we play just the same.

If you're not from the prairie,
You don't know the wind."

Be sure to check out all the other great Mosaic Monday entries.

Have a great week everyone!

Oh!  Almost forgot,,,I was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan
Raised on the prairies in Saskatchewan and
have called Alberta home now for 26 years.
How about you...where were you born?
