Day 2 and Day 3 of the 7 Day Picture Challenge...

I had to head into Calgary after work yesterday, so I threw the camera in the car and was looking for something to take a picture of all the way to the city!   Great way to stay awake too!!

I pulled off the hiway and decided that this old barn would be the photo of the day.  I got playing with some basic editing in IPhoto, and made the picture look a little bit antiqued with fuzzy edges.  As you can see from the picture below, the blue sky wasn't right behind the barn until I shot further away.  I am so inexperienced at this picture stuff.  But, hope you like it anyway

I shot the next picture when I got back into Hanna today.  This is the sign to the old Seymour Hotel in Hanna.  It is close to the railway track and way back in the day the people getting off the train would be able to see the HOTEL sign from the train station.  I would have to do some research to find out when it closed, but now it is just a dilapitated old building on the edge of town.

Boy if these old walls could talk!!

I am also listing some other photographers that are playing along, so be sure to check them out too, or why not join in yourself!  Thanks to Sarah for getting us all going  :)

7 Pictures in 7 Days Challenge

I was visiting one of my favorite blogs, Cozy.Cottage.Cute , and Sarah is doing a one week photo challenge.  So, I thought I would join in!  I know there is a 365 day photo challenge out there, but that is too big a task so I figure I can handle doing 7 days!!

My first photo is from Ben's Midget B Provincials that happened this week end.  Ben plays defense and this is one of my favorite pictures I have captured of him and Aaron, our goalie.  This was the end of the semi final game that the Colts won, advancing the team onto the final medal round.  You can see the big smile that Ben has on his face as he was the first person back to congratulate his team mate.  It was a great game!

Colts win GOLD!

This week end was a busy week end for hockey in our family.  Our town was hosting the Midget B Provincials, and it was the last week end of hockey for Ben.    The boys played with all they had and it paid off for them this year!   Being the best in the province was the best way to end minor hockey!  Way to go Colts!

We are proud of you Ben....way to go!

Leaving the arena for the last time,,, a Champion!

This will be my Mosaic Monday post over at Little Red House.

Find your direction in life...

I found this layout in a scrapbooking magazine awhile back and always kept the idea of these layouts in the back of my mind.  So, one day I was off to take pictures of "signs"...

My biggest prayer for my boys, as Kaleb has already left the nest and Ben is getting ready to test his wings, is that they will trust in the Lord to direct their paths.   My job is to trust that God will take care of them and keep them,,,that is what I struggle with some days.  I think this "growing up" is more of a test of my faith.  My one word motto is "TRUST"

"The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you.  He will never leave you
nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged"
Deuteronomy 31:8

I included a sign of the Hway that we live on, Hway 36N.  This way, my boys will always know where to find home!  and I also included a shot of our BnB sign that is on the Hway.

Have a great day!  It is snowing "AGAIN" in Alberta!  I don't know that we are ever going to find our way out of some of these snowdrifts!  and there are baby calves scheduled to arrive soon.  Yikes, where will we find dry ground to put them on!

The little country church...

It was a beautiful Sunday here in Alberta!!  Warmer temperatures and sunshine had one hoping spring is just around the corner.  After church we were on the road to a small community called Oyen for game three of Ben's second round of playoffs.   While driving around the little town, we came across this old church.  Old church buildings are right up there with some of my favorite building to try and capture in a photo.   I trudged through some rather big snow piles that were around this now closed building.  This will be my Mosaic Monday post over at the Little Red House as well as Mellow Yellow Monday

I grew up in a few small communities in Saskatchewan.  Wapella and Leader were the smallest towns.   I grew up as a PK (preacher's kid) and have wonderful memories of the small churches that my dad was a pastor at.    Today, I was also reminded that you do not need to be in a church building to say a prayer or share your thoughts with the God who created you.   Ben was having a bit of a rough first period in his game today.  It found me pacing and praying :)  and thankful that the God of this huge universe cares about a mom watching a hockey game.

I am also posting some pictures from the internet and one picture from my trip to Europe of other country churches.  Oh!  Ben's team won their game today and are now onto the League Championship game next week end.    Go Colts!

Some more scrapbooking pages..

I finally got some pictures of my scrapbooking pages onto the computer so I can share them with you.  It is a very blustery evening here in Alberta.  Is spring ever going to come?  Would be a good evening to get some things done in the craft room too.  How about you, what are you up to on this March evening.

This is one of my favorite pictures of "cousins"...boys playing cowboys and  soldiers with homemade guns, some that look bigger than they are!  The straw cowboy hats usually got worn right out.

From cupcakes, to scrapbooking to hockey...busy week end!

It has been a busy week end at That Country Place.  This week end saw 4 ladies  "moving into" the BnB for a week end of scrapbooking.  When I say "moving in", that is what scrapbookers do.  There is just so much stuff to bring!  One thing I am promoting at the BnB is getaway week ends for scrapbookers, quilters, crafters.  Book into the BnB, enjoy working on your projects, relax with friends or family, let me do the cooking for you while you enjoy the country!

Here are a few pictures from the week end.  It is always fun to stop in and see everyones progress on their projects and have a good "show and tell " session.

Lots of great papers, ribbons, embellishments and more!

DeAnn's favorite pick of the week end..

Erin's favorite pick of the week end..

Kim's favorite pick of the week end...

Nancy's favorite pick of the week end....

I had fun making cupcakes for one of the desserts I served the ladies.  I will not be making an appearance on "Cupcake Wars" anytime soon, but it was fun decorating them.  This will be my Mosaic Monday posting over at the Little Red House.

Ben had a good week end of hockey as well.  The Colts are into playoffs and this week end was an important one!  The best two out of three games against Lethbridge,  saw the Colts moving into round 2!
Soon my days as a hockey mom will be over, as  Ben's last year of hockey is coming to an end.  I am looking forward to every game he has left to play.  We will also be hosting the Midget B Provincials in our town March 25 - 27th.  Would be great to end as Provincial Champs!   Go Colts!!   Thanks for checking in everyone, have a great week.  I am back to work tomorrow, as I have recovered very well from my surgery!  :)

Headin to the rink...

The D men...

Good job boys!!  Onto round 2!
