Springtime on the Prairies..

It was a beautiful morning for a walk, so before I headed to church I thought I better get my shoes on!  No wind, some sunshine and some time to get some fresh air.  When I got back from my walk, I picked up the camera and headed back out again to get some pictures of a few things I saw along the way.  I also switched my runners for my rubber boots and its a good thing I did because I did sink up past my boots in one spot and came home with a soaking wet sock and pant leg.  I remember when I was a little girl, I got stuck in a muddle puddle on my way home from school and actually had to get out of my boots, walk home in wet socks and go back to get the boots!!

The water is starting to flow from the filled dug outs and the melting snow that has covered the prairies this year...a welcome sight for a good start to things.

I was abe to get much closer to these geese when I went for my walk the first time,,,but when I came back with the camera, they seemed to be a little camera shy and off they went!

Please stop by and visit Mary for this weeks Mosaic Monday.

Thanks for stopping by everyone and have a great week.

Organizing the pantry with mason jars..

I was just over at Funky Junk Interiors and noticed she is having a Mason Jar posting party!  I reorganized my pantry a few months back when we started taking the kitchen apart.  There is a cooking show called "Chef at Home" and I noticed his pantry was completely organized with mason jars.  So, I spent one afternoon filling jars and reorganizing things.  I love it, when I am baking something, I just open the pantry, take the jars I need to my "new island" and have everything at my fingertips.  There are some great projects over at Funky Junk of what others have done with their mason jars, so be sure to pop over and check them out.

As you can see, I had fun with my label maker!!

From taxes to decorating...

Well, there was no getting around it...this week end I had to get a good start on my income taxes!!  So, since I have no BnB guests this week end, no hockey, and no other excuses,,,it was time to get at the books!    Who knew one little BnB business, the farm and our personal stuff  could take up so much paper in the scheme of things!!

Well, I don't want to put you completely to sleep with this post!  So, I will show you my latest find from HomeSense!  I just love that store! and with getting to the fun part of decorating and putting the finishing touches on the kitchen I have been a very good customer!!

This cute little cupboard was my latest find.  I think it goes well on this wall with my rooster pictures that I have had forever,,,but still don't want to part with.

The cupboard even has kind of a distressed look very similar to our new cabinets...it was meant to be..

I don't know if I really like the hook on the bottom though?  That is how the cupboard came, I just don't know what to hang from it ??  Any suggestions?

I have a number of white pitchers and even found a spot to display a few here

We don't have any chickens/roosters on our farm,,,so these will have to do :)

The to do list for the kitchen is getting shorter,,,but Darrell has to get his income taxes done as well, so things are kind of on hold again!  Soon,,,very soon, I will be posting pictures of the finished job!

Thanks for stopping in at That Country Place today, wishing you all a good week end!

I am also posting my new finds at Cottage Mondays.

Photo 7 of the 7 Day Challenge...

Spring has arrived at That Country Place as this little critter made its appearance today :)  We have a small herd of cattle and today marks the beginning of calving season.  I love looking out the kitchen window and seeing little calves in the field.  It will be a bit of challenge this year as there is still a lot of snow to melt, making conditions wet and very muddy!  But for today, one has arrived safe and sound,,,lets hope the rest do the same.

Not even wobbly...

Lovin the sunny day!

Hope you all enjoyed a quick visit to the farm today.

Day 6 of the 7 Day Photo Challenge...

So the week is almost up!  Its been fun trying to think of something creative!  Today, after church, Ben and I went out for Chinese food ( Darrell is working days).. and then I decided to take a 45 minute drive to Drumheller and get a few errands done.  One of them being to get pictures from Provincials developed so I can start scrapbooking them.  It was also a nice sunny day for a drive :), so again, I took my camera and was off.

You can take a more scenic route to Drumheller from Hanna through the Handhills.   I've been told that this group of hills looks like a hand from the air....anyways, this is where I found todays photo of the day.  Along the hillside when you come around a curve, this old house still stands on the hill.  Note to self,,,,when wandering around in spring melting conditions, be sure to take some boots along!  There were footprints in the snow, so perhaps someone else had the same idea and beat me to taking some pictures?!  I always wonder about old abandoned houses on the prairies....wondering who lived there, how many people lived in these small quarters, if they liked living on a beautiful hillside,,,all those kinds of things.  Anyways, I hope you enjoy the pictures and I will also be posting this as my Monday Mosaic over at the Little Red House

Thanks to Sara for sharing the 7 day photo challenge with us, and be sure to check out the others who have joined in

I have BnB guests tonight, so thought I would make my "never fail" brownie and set it out as a sweet treat for them.  Just in case your taste buds get excited I will include the recipe for the brownies at the end of the post.   My sister in law shared this recipe with me when I first got married.  Yikes!  That is 25 years of chocolate goodness!!  Hope you enjoy the pics and thanks for stopping by ;)

Day 4 of the 7 Day Photo Challenge

Well this morning, I was dressed in my "work out " clothes, did 20 minutes on the "dreadmill" and finished up my walk outside.  There was finally some blue sky and it was a great start to the day.....I am fighting a cold and now at the end of this day I am ready to be headin to bed.  There is still lots of snow on the ground around here, along with mud, puddles and ice.  But there is a stretch of our laneway that is good for walking on if I get my rear in gear before it thaws!!

These poor geese were honking away as I was on my walk.  This white expanse of snow is suppose to be their place to float....I guess they were wondering who stole the water!

Wishing you all a great April and a happy week end!  Thanks for stoppin by :)
